Officially opened!! "National Science and Technology Fair 2020" A new normal on-ground event - the online platform is added for more option to learn science in the COVID era.

14 November 2020 - Nonthaburi / The event "National Science and Technology Fair 2020" is officially opened, a new form as Virtual Science Fair from today - 23 November at Challenger 2, IMPACT Muang Thong Thani, showing scientific works and potential, modern technology both domestic and international from 93 leading organizations from 11 countries, emphasize the exhibition in accordance with the New Normal. There is a strict screening measure for visitors in accordance with government regulations. Let’s join a new experience, Virtual Science Fair, simulating real event atmosphere to the online world to add an option to learn science in the COVID Era.
 
            Prof. Dr. Anek Laothamatas, Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI) said as the opening president of the National Science and Technology Fair 2020 that science, technology and innovation are the keys to bring the country to change and causing Thailand to escape the 4 major traps: the middle-income trap, inequality, education quality and conflict. The role and mission of the MHESI are comparable to the locomotive that will drive the country into the future. Our country needs to change dramatically. The key partner that will bring this change to life is 'People'. At the same time, we must prepare our 'People' to face volatility in the modern world and change in all areas, and ready to enter the 21st century. What the MHESI is doing is to make Thai youth Including students to develop knowledge in both science and art, know how to do research, think creatively, rational, and all-around based on science and technology. As well as encouraging youth and new generation to participate and play a role in creating works, innovation that meets the social needs to cope with the changing global context.       
            Prof. Dr. Anek added that the Thai people are extremely fortunate to have the king who pays attention and uses scientific knowledge and processes to develop the country to be on par with other civilized countries, and maintain the sovereignty of the nation, such as the royal duties that King Mongkut (King Rama IV), "Father of Thai Science", has practiced, as well as royal duties and genius of King Rama IX, "Father of Technology" and "Father of Innovation" of Thailand, who is exemplary in bringing scientific knowledge and processes to solve the problems of adversity and improve the quality of life of the Thai people until it became apparent and accepted in many countries which everyone in the royal family, especially King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua (King Rama X) has a strong determination in his work to carry on, maintain and extend the royal projects and royal initiatives of his father for the benefit of the Thai people.
 
           
Prof. Sirirurg Songsivilai, M.D., Ph.D., Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation said the holding of "National Science and Technology Fair 2020” during 13 - 23 November 2020 at IMPACT, Muang Thong Thani under the concept “Science, Technology and Innovation: Inspiring Creativity for Better Living and Sustainability for the Nation.” has an issue that communicate about “BCG Model: Bio-Circular-Green Economy” which is the policy of holistic economic development, sufficiency economy philosophy, decoding the King's Philosophy, processes and goals of national development towards Thailand 4.0, as well as the celebration of two important scientific and current world issues in 2020: the International Year of Plant Health (IYPH) and the International Year of the Nurse and the Midwife.
This year's fair is organized with great cooperation from various agencies including the public and private sectors, both domestic and foreign, including 93 leading organizations from 11 countries to pass on the inspiration of science and technology to the youth and Thai society, along with creating new presentation method and style by adding an online platform which not only reduces the access gap from the visitors who are in remote areas or those who are not easily accessible but also increase learning opportunities, add alternative channel for visitors to the event to enjoy the activities and open up perspectives on science learning through this new channel. There are 2 ways to visit the event: The first way is to visit at the actual venue that will be held from today - 23 November 2020 at Challenger 2, IMPACT Muang Thong Thani from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Admission is free! There are also measures to limit visitors and monitoring measures for the spread of COVID-19 according to government requirements, and the second way is an online channel through the event’s website www.thailandnstfair.com and you can watch activities and exhibitions held, such as the visit of presenters and celebrities at IMPACT Muang Thong Thani through a 360-degree live broadcast on Facebook of NSTFair Thailand www. facebook.com/nstfairTH and also join in the fun of limited-edition giveaways throughout the event every day.
            For the highlights that should not be missed! MHESI has selected the main exhibitions that contain the content of the public interest. They’re international content and focus on applying knowledge that has been applied in daily life such as Royal Pavilion, Tech behind Games exhibition-learning innovation in game development until becoming an online sport, amazed by life simulation on Mars! In a one-day in SOL#1: A Day on Mars exhibition, learn how to fight the mini-catastrophe in the mini-catastrophe exhibition in Micro Monster exhibition, learn and create for sustainable, environmentally conscious and socially responsible in Sustainable Design exhibition, there are also many other activities including scientific activities, contest, conferences both national and international to exchange experiences, knowledge and create a network of cooperation in science.
            Prof. Dr. Anek concluded that the Science Fair is like a large knowledge market that gathers a lot of knowledge and activities. People can come to learn, develop ideas and use them further and make use of many exhibitions from both domestic and international, so we invite all parents, teachers, youths and people to visit the Science Fair on both ways.
After the opening speech, Prof. Dr. Anek honored to be the president and presented the Prime Minister's Science Award 2020 to encourage the youths and teachers who have created scientific and technological works that lead to the extension and elevation for economic value to become innovations that meet the social needs in the future.
