04/06/2019
The Thailand Center of Excellence for Life Sciences (TCELS), Ministry of Higher Education Science Research and Innovation (HESRI) led by CEO Dr. Nares Damrongchai, recently held the "Organization Development 2019" event to create awareness and understanding among employees of the importance of organizational values and public mindedness. The activity took place from 30 May - 1 June 2019 in Chon Buri Province and enabled participants to enhance their skills and gain knowledge that they can apply to their work and achieve their goals.

The TCELS management team along with officials also joined a CSR activity on reforestation. They planted mangrove trees at the Thai Island and Sea Natural History Museum in Sattahip District, Chon Buri Province. The team received a warm welcome from Lieutenant Apichai Techo, deputy chief of the museum affairs division who guided the TCELS delegates on a visit of the museum where they learned about the ecosystem as well as the importance of natural resources along the coastline and the sea around Koh Samae San, Sattahip. This museum was established following a Royal Initiative of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn.

The delegates then visited the Sea Turtle Conservation Center in the Thai Royal Naval Base Sattahip where they were briefed by Chief Petty Officer First Class Visuth Krachon.

The center encourages the conservation of sea turtles and has nursery ponds to nurture the hatchlings before releasing them to the sea.

An exhibition provides biological knowledge on the life cycle of the sea turtles from the time they hatch on a nesting beach through the hatchlings stage to when they are juveniles in the open sea.

Moreover, the TCELS volunteers helped collect garbage on the beach at the Sea Turtle Conservation Center. The TCELS is well aware that social responsibility is crucial part of sustainable development.
